The National Maritime Center updated the Rules of the Road examination questions affected by the changes in the Inland Navigation Rules final rule. The updated bank of questions is posted to the NMC’s website.

The final rule amends the Inland Navigation Rules and their annexes to align the regulations with amendments made by the International Maritime Organization to the Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, to which the United States is a signatory, and to incorporate recommendations made by the Navigation Safety Advisory Council. These changes harmonize domestic and international law.

Beginning on September 1, 2014, and throughout the subsequent 12 calendar months, Rules of the Road Modules on existing Approved to Test Letters will be replaced with updated modules at the Regional Exam Centers.
