A team of 7 players from Europe will compete against a team of 7 players from the USA. Additionally, each team may include two subs. Each team will have one player who is appointed as the team captain. It is the duty of the captain to decide which team members play in each match. |
|
So that the tournament director or other interested parties can easily identify matches that are being played, room names must adhere to the following format:
The first break-off shot shall be decided by the Virtual Pool 3 software. Subsequent breaks will alternate. After the game has been created (or re-joining the game after a disconnect), each player (or set of two players for doubles), has a 10 minute time limit to be present for the match. If after 10 minutes, a player is a no-show, their opponent will be awarded the match. If neither team is present after the time limit, the match can be re-scheduled. The tournament director must exercise all possible avenues in order to get the match played. For example, using a sub or changing the players (to other members in the team). If a player disconnects 3 times during a match, they will lose that match. In the event that one or more players disconnects during a match, one of the remaining players must save the game so that it can be re-commenced when the player that disconnected has returned. The loser of a match must report the result as soon as possible to the tournament director. It does not matter who creates the game. If a player has difficulty creating a room, they may ask their opponent to create it. If both players are having problems, they may ask another player in the GameSpy Virtual Pool 3 lobby to create the game on their behalf. During the period waiting to play in a Virtual Mosconi match, players are not allowed to play in a VIP ladder match. However, practicing is allowed provided the room name is clearly labelled with the players name. This is so that the tournament director or a fellow team mate is able to locate the player who is practicing. Players participating in the Virtual Mosconi Cup, must act in a sportsmanlike manner at all times. Failure to do so may result in disiplinary action being taken. i) The tournament director's decision is final There shall be no arguing with the tournament director's decision. Any such arguing will be considered unsportsmanlike behaviour as defined under rule 3h.

Breaking with the cue butt raised at 5 or above is disallowed. This is because of the unfairly high number of 9-ball breaks achieved using this breaking technique. |
* These rules have been adapted from those defined for playing Virtual Pool 3 In-Stroke tournaments.
